The Estetica Designs Guide to Washing Your Synthetic Wig

 

HUMAN HAIR

Keep your human hair wig looking fresh and beautiful with regular cleaning to remove dirt, oils, and styling products, this ensures it stays soft and vibrant, prolonging its lifespan.

WASHING

  1. Gently brush the hair to remove any teasing or tangles. When brushing, always start at the bottom, gently brush the hair using a downward motion. Gradually moving upwards until you have brushed all the hair. 
  2. Swish the hair gently in cool or lukewarm water using a Shampoo.
  3. Rinse thoroughly in cool or lukewarm water. Lightly squeeze the hair, making sure not to rub it.

CONDITIONING

  1. Gently apply a small amount of Conditioner to the hair and leave it on for about three minutes.
  2. Rinse the hair thoroughly in cool or lukewarm water. Lightly squeeze the hair, making sure not to rub hair in the process.
  3. Gently pat hair dry with a towel.
  4. Comb wet hair, one section at a time, beginning at the ends of the hair and moving your way up, using gentle downward strokes. Always begin by combing at the bottom and always comb downwards.

 DRYING

  1. Allow hair to dry naturally.
  2. Hang up or place on a wig stand and allow it to dry at room temperature.

STYLING

  1. Always use a wide tooth or pick comb for curly styles and a wire brush for straight styles. Avoid standard brushes.
  2. When brushing, start at the bottom, gently brush the hair using a downward motion. Gradually move up until you have brushed all the hair.
  3. To completely restyle your human hair wig or hair piece, we suggest taking it to your stylist.

 If restyling the wig or topper yourself, please follow these guidelines:

  • Place on a wig stand.
  • Remove tangles with a wide tooth comb or a wire brush.
  • Use standard or electric rollers or pin curls.
  • Pick up the hair and wind on a roller, smoothing the ends as you go.
  • Use a medium setting with electric rollers or hair dryer.
  • When blow drying, keep hair 12" from the hair dryer while circulating evenly and continuously.
  • Allow hair to cool before removing rollers or pin curls.
  • Lightly brush or lightly tease desired areas and spray.

 

SYNTHETIC HAIR

WASHING

  1. Gently brush the hair to remove any teasing or tangles. When brushing, start at the ends and work your way to the roots.
  2. Soak in lukewarm water containing Shampoo for three to five minutes. Swish gently, do not rub hair.
  3. Thoroughly rinse in cool water. Lightly squeeze hair, making sure not to rub hair.

CONDITIONING

  1. After rinsing out shampoo, fill sink with cool water and stir in 2 - 3 droplets of Conditioner.
  2. Completely submerge hair and soak for three to five minutes.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Lightly squeeze hair, making sure not to rub hair.

 DRYING

  1. Gently towel blot hair.
  2. Hang up or place on a wig stand and allow it to dry at room temperature.
  3. Do not comb or brush hair when it is wet.
  4. When completely dry, brush or use a pick comb to achieve desired style.

 STYLING

  • For tight curls or ringlet styles, try the "Shake & Go" method, or gently lift and separate the curls using your fingers or a pick comb.
  • For wavy styles with loose curls, brush lightly with a wig styling brush or a pick comb, using short lifting strokes.
  • For long curly styles, use your fingers or a pick comb to gently lift and separate the curls.
  • For straight styles, brush using long, even, gentle strokes. Starting at the bottom, gently brush the hair using a downward motion. Gradually move up until you have brushed all the hair.
  • Never begin combing at the top or middle; it will damage and tangle the hair.
  • We do not recommend wearing your wig or hair piece to sleep.
  • Never expose your wig or hair piece to heated styling tools such as hair dryers, curling irons or other heat sources.

  • Swish hair gently in cold or luke warm water with Estetica Designs Cleanse & Clarify Wig Shampoo
  • Rinse thoroughly in cold water, then lightly squeeze, making sure not to rub hair
  • After pat drying with towel, shake out and drip dry, Do NOT comb when wet.
  • After hair is completely dry, comb into desired style using a wide tooth comb or finger styling.
  • When combing always start at the bottom using a downward motion, gradually moving up until you have combed all of the hair. Never begin combing in the middle as it will damage and tangle the hair.
  • Every morning and evening gently detangle with a wide tooth comb,
  • For styling with a curling iron set the heat between 160 – 200 degrees, do NOT go above 200 degrees as it can damage the wig.
  • Do not sleep on wet hair as it will mat and tangle.
  • Do not spray or put any products containing oil or wax onto the synthetic hair as it will dull or mat the hair.
